Unplug

Together with four other 2nd year Graphic Designing students from Seneca College, we embarked on a project to design a survival kit named “Unplug.” Our primary goal was to provide support to individuals experiencing anxiousness and stress, helping them find a sense of calm and reconnect with themselves. We understood that unplugging from our daily routines is an effective way to relax, and this became the foundation of our kit’s concept and purpose. By creating “Unplug,” we aimed to offer a holistic approach to alleviating stress and promoting mental well-being through thoughtful design and carefully curated items.

WHAT'S INCLUDED?

“Unplug” offers a versatile solution to cater to different preferences, presenting two sub-kits that address distinct approaches to finding calm and relaxation. The first sub-kit, “Pause,” is designed for those seeking a tranquil and serene experience. Inside this kit, you will find items carefully curated to encourage mindfulness and self-reflection, such as soothing aromatherapy candles, a wellness journal for jotting down reflections, a calming herbal tea blend, a fidget spinner and a meditation audiobook to promote inner peace.

On the other hand, the second sub-kit, “Play,” caters to individuals who prefer a more playful and engaging approach to unwind. This kit is filled with items that encourage fun and lightheartedness, including a jenga for laughter-inducing games, a peppermint gum, a box of origami to stimulate creativity, a colouring book to express artistic flair, and a dance audiobook to bring joy.

By offering the “Pause” and “Play” sub-kits, “Unplug” seeks to provide a personalized and holistic experience for each individual’s unique needs and preferences. Whether one prefers a moment of stillness and introspection or seeks a dose of fun and amusement, “Unplug” aims to empower everyone to embark on a journey of self-discovery and find a sense of calm amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Packaging

The packaging of “Unplug” features a distinct and innovative design, ensuring a delightful unboxing experience. When you open the box, you’ll find two distinct product sections, thoughtfully organized to cater to different aspects of relaxation. The first section comprises separate compartments dedicated to journals and related items, providing a designated space for mindful reflection and expression. The second section, housed in a secondary box, features divisions to neatly arrange the remaining items, allowing for easy access and organization.

The unique structure of “Unplug” packaging not only showcases the attention to detail in our design but also serves as a reflection of our commitment to creating a user-friendly and enjoyable experience for the kit’s recipients. Launch Strategy

The launch campaign for “Unplug” carries the title “Take a Moment,” capturing the essence of the kit’s purpose – encouraging individuals to pause, unwind, and be present in the moment. “Take a Moment” is more than just a simple campaign; it offers an interactive and immersive experience that fully embodies the brand’s identity and the unique attributes of both the “Pause” and “Play” kits.

Throughout the campaign, we skillfully implement various elements that resonate with the “Unplug” brand. From captivating visuals to engaging storytelling, “Take a Moment” aims to create an emotional connection with the audience, inspiring them to prioritize their mental well-being and embrace moments of calm amidst the chaos of daily life.

The campaign is strategically divided into three distinct stages: Pre-Launch, Launch, and Post Launch activities. In the Pre-Launch phase, we build anticipation and curiosity, teasing glimpses of the kits and their benefits, generating excitement among potential customers. During the Launch phase, we make a grand entrance into the market, showcasing the full range of “Unplug” offerings and captivating the audience with an unforgettable experience. As the campaign progresses into the Post Launch phase, we nurture relationships with customers, gather feedback, and celebrate the impact “Unplug” has made on their lives.

With “Take a Moment,” we hope to create a memorable and transformative journey for our audience, leaving a lasting impression of the “Unplug” brand and its commitment to promoting mental well-being through creativity, play, and relaxation.

For an immersive experience, we invite you to explore the prototype of the “Unplug” website on a desktop or a tablet. The design has been optimized for bigger screens to ensure the best possible visual and interactive experience. Although the website is not available for mobile phone viewing, this decision was made to ensure that all the features and content are seamlessly displayed on larger screens, enhancing user engagement and navigation.

By accessing the website on a desktop or tablet, you’ll be able to fully appreciate the thoughtfully curated design, interactive elements, and user-friendly interface that “Unplug” has to offer. We aimed to create a captivating and seamless digital journey for our audience, allowing them to explore the different sub-kits, learn about the unique features, and make an informed decision about the product that best suits their needs.

As you navigate through the website prototype, we hope you’ll experience the brand’s essence and the essence of the “Unplug” survival kits, reinforcing our commitment to providing a holistic and rewarding experience for all who seek relaxation, mindfulness, and self-discovery.

pop-up Store

Although our initial plan was to exclusively offer the “Unplug” products through the brand’s website, we soon realized the immense potential of setting up pop-up stores inside various malls in Toronto. These pop-up stores presented a unique and valuable opportunity to serve as crucial product launch pads, enabling us to reach a wider audience and engage with potential customers in person.

By embracing this omni-channel strategy, we aimed to strike a perfect balance between the convenience of online shopping and the sensory experience of exploring “Unplug” in a physical retail environment.

Over the course of 14 grueling weeks, we poured our hearts and minds into the “Unplug” project, and the journey was nothing short of transformative. From the initial stages of conceptualizing the product to identifying key brand promoters and strategic partners, every step was crucial in shaping the vision of “Unplug” and bringing it to life.

Collaboration played a central role in our success, as we leveraged the diverse skills and perspectives of our team members to create a comprehensive and impactful marketing campaign. The Collaborative Marketing Campaign (CMC) proved to be an invaluable learning experience, allowing us to navigate the complexities of product development and market penetration with precision and creativity.

Throughout the process, we embraced challenges as opportunities for growth, pushing our limits to ensure the highest quality and effectiveness of our marketing efforts. The dedication and commitment of our team members, combined with the support of mentors and faculty, propelled us forward on this exhilarating journey.

As the weeks went by, we refined our strategies, fine-tuned our messaging, and carefully crafted a brand identity that resonated with our target audience. The CMC served as a testament to the power of teamwork and determination, paving the way for the successful launch of “Unplug.”

Looking back, we can confidently say that every moment of hard work and perseverance was worth it. Our project not only enriched our skills as designers but also reinforced the value of collaboration, innovation, and the pursuit of meaningful endeavors.
